The Essence of a Family
How It Began
A Name Built from Love
Jomady Essence was born from a simple but powerful idea: to bring the authentic richness of Africa to Canadian homes, through the hands of one family.
The name itself tells the story. Jomady is woven from the first letters of every family member — Janenisiya, Omarion, Mar (from Omar), A (from Jamal), Debra, and Y (from Jayen). Every product carries all of them.
Debra, the founder, started with what she knew best — the things her family grew up with. Free-size African dresses that celebrate every body. Unrefined shea butter, cold-pressed and pure. Raw honey, harvested by traditional African beekeepers and shipped directly to Canada.
But Jomady Essence is not just a store. It is a living, growing expression of who Debra is — a mother, a creator, a connector of cultures. She adds new products as she finds them or makes them herself: homemade meals, hair mixes, skin blends, wigs. Each one chosen with the same care she gives her family.
